From San Cristobal to Cancun

An amazing journey that will give you a complete perspective of the Mayan Culture. Start in San Cristobal de las Casas where you will get in touch with the real mexican culture. Among that you will have a great contact with the Mayan legacy... from Palenque all the way to Chichen Itza. A Great 6 day trip thay will give you an amazing Mexican taste! 

DAY 01 TUXTLA GUTIERREZ- CAÑÓN DEL SUMIDERO - SAN CRISTÓBAL DE LAS CASAS Welcome at the Tuxtla Gutierrez airport and transfer to the Grijalva River pier to navigate and observe the geological wonder Cañón del Sumidero, where we will also observe diversity of flora and fauna. After the navigation, we will go to the Colonial City of San Cristóbal de Las Casas (2'300 MSNM), founded in 1528 by Captain Diego de Mazariegos, and declared a World Heritage Site. Upon arrival, check in at the chosen hotel and have the rest of the day off. Overnight.

DAY 02 SAN CRISTÓBAL DE LAS CASAS - NATIVE COMMUNITIES - CITY TOUR After breakfast, we will depart to the Native Communities of the Tzotzil ethnic group; visiting Chamula first, to learn, and thus understand the fusion of contemporary traditions and Mayan ancestral characteristics that identifies this place. Later, we will continue to Zinacantan, where we will visit the church and the house of a local family, where we will be received with a typical drink and we will watch how women work the waist loom of pre-Columbian eras. After seeing the samples of what they produce, they will offer us to go to their kitchen, where if we are lucky, they will invite us to taste handmade tortillas. When finished, we will return to San Cristóbal de Las Casas and a take a City Tour in this beautiful city. Rest of the day off. Overnight.

DAY 03 SAN CRISTÓBAL - AGUA AZUL - MISOL HA - PALENQUE Early in the morning, we will leave for Palenque, stopping at Agua Azul, a set of waterfalls created by the currents of the Otulún, Shumuljá and Tulijá rivers, creating not very deep canyons with vertical cliffs, where you can swim and enjoy the different areas. Then, we will continue to the waterfalls of Misol-Ha, which with its 30 meters high, and surrounded by high tropical jungle, make this a beautiful and refreshing place. Transfer to the hotel in the city of Palenque. Overnight.

DAY 04 ZONA ARQUEOLÓGICA DE PALENQUE – CAMPECHE After breakfast, we will visit the archaeological site of Palenque. This Mayan city stands out for its architectural and sculptural heritage; and where we can admire several buildings: The Palace, The Temple of the Foliated Cross, The Temple of the Sun and others. Afterwards, we will leave for the city of Campeche, a beautiful walled city, which once served to defend against pirate attacks. A city rich in traditions, folklore and customs, as well as an exquisite gastronomy. Check in at the hotel. Rest of the day off. Overnight.

DAY 05 CAMPECHE – UXMAL – MERIDA After breakfast, there will take a panoramic tour through the city of Campeche. Following our tour, we will go to the impressive archaeological zone of Uxmal, considered World Heritage Site, located in the Puuc zone, being the most representative city of this architectonic style. We will continue our way to Merida and have the rest of the day off. Overnight.

DAY 06 MERIDA - CHICHEN ITZA - CANCUN After having breakfast, we leave to one of the main archaeological sites of the Yucatan Peninsula: Chichen Itzá. Visit and admire its beautiful buildings: the Pyramid of Kukulkan, the Observatory, the Temple of the Warriors and the Ball Game; important and well known vestiges of the Mayan civilization. Transfer to the selected hotel in Cancun. (Hotel not included).
